The World Series by Renault 3.5 weekend has been closed this morning with the second race in English land. In the starting grid, Nico Muller is 4th, after an excellent qualifying yesterday, where he has won the 2nd row.
At the start, however, the portion of the track in which the Draco car is located is wet and Muller can’t make a fast start, thus losing some positions. The Swiss driver immediately tries the recovery, hampered by the malfunctioning of the DRS, the system designed to reduce drag in order to favour the overtakings. Muller looks for the recovery, since he is faster than the other drivers, but during an overtaking he is touched and his front wing has broken. For the Draco driver the race becomes even more difficult because he has to make more than 4 laps with a damaged car, trying to keep the position even with a clear instability of the car. With great concentration and determination, Muller crosses the finish line in 7th position, and he takes the third place of rookie podium, earning more points for the championship, where currently he is 7th with 60 points.
Recovery Race for André Negrao that after yesterday’s qualifying, where he could not make the fastest lap due to some problems on the track, he is started from the 10th row. The Brazilian driver of the Draco team makes a very good start, recovering immediately several positions. During the 27 laps, Negrao tried the recovery, particularly difficult for the lack of pit stops as in race 1, and at the finishing line he has ended in 16th place.
Nico Muller:
“In this race I could aspire to the podium, starting from the 2nd row after an excellent qualifying. But I have had various problems that have hindered me, before the track was wet, the DRS was not working, and finally the broken wing that made me slow down. However, I gained some important points and now I think to the Hungary. ”
André Negrao:
“It was a difficult race because I started from the 10th row and so I could not recover many positions. Where possible, however, I tried the recovery and in the end I gained a few positions. Now we are preparing for Hungary and for the next races.”
