Qualifying The qualifying took place in rainy conditions with full wet tyres. It started straight away with a red flag after Mazepin span in his out lap. The time got stopped with 27 minutes and 56 seconds to go, but it got cleared up very quickly. Jordan King was 6th fastest in his first push lap with a lap time of 1:54.514 while Mahaveer Raghunathan was 19th at that moment. Qualifying The weather stayed dry after a little bit of rain in the morning. All the cars went straight out on track when the lights went on green. Richard Verschoor was 12th fastest after his first push lap, Liam Lawson was 18th and Simo Laaksonen 24th. Liam and Simo went straight back in the pitlane for a new set of tyres after their first push lap. Richard continued with a cool down lap and went for a second push lap on his first set of tyres. Qualifying The softest compound that Formula 3 got this weekend was the soft tyres with the red colour. Liam Lawson was 16th fastest when he completed his first push lap, Richard Verschoor 21st and Simo Laaksonen was 20th fastest. After their cooldown lap to let the tyres recover and to avoid traffic they went again back up to speed for improving their lap time. Patricio O’Ward is MP Motorsport’s surprise choice as its stand-in driver for this weekend’s FIA Formula 2 round at the Red-Bull-Ring. The Mexican Red Bull junior will sub for Mahaveer Ragunathan   O’Ward is the reigning Indy Lights champion and made his IndyCar debut with Carlin this season. Formula 2 already had some race weekends completed. For Formula 3 this was only the second race weekend of the season. It was a warm and challenging start of the weekend, but it ended positively for some of the drivers. Qualifying For each driver, there were two sets of new tyres and two opportunities to make a fast lap time. Monaco is a small circuit, and there is not much space to claim and give other drivers enough room to get a clean qualifying lap. For this reason, the organisation decided to split up the field in two groups of 10 drivers. A group of even start numbers and a group of uneven start numbers. Mahaveer Raghunathan had to start with his group the qualifying at 13:20 local time.
